Sunday Times bestselling author and story consultant

Storytelling

Michael Cordy has a BA in English and an MBA from Durham University.  Before writing his first novel, he spent over ten years in branded marketing with Reckitt, United Biscuits and Bacardi Martini.

Michael’s wife Jenny, who also worked in branded marketing, first at Reckitt and then at Unilever, encouraged him to follow his dream of becoming a writer.

Michael’s debut novel, The Miracle Strain/The Messiah Code, about the search for the DNA of Christ, was published in over twenty-five languages and forty countries.  A Sunday Times Bestseller it became a bestseller around the world.  Disney bought the film rights for $1.6 million.   To date, Michael has published six novels.  Four have been sold to Hollywood.  His seventh novel Manhattan Down is out in hardback on May 8th 2025.

After a successful career in marketing, writing seven novels has given Michael a unique perspective on brand storytelling.   He is often struck by the similarity between developing a compelling hero to shape a narrative and developing a compelling brand to shape a market.  A fictional character and a well conceived brand both occupy the same psychological space in our mind.  Daniel Craig and a bottle of white rum both physically exist.  The world of James Bond and Bacardi, however, are both fictional constructs that exist only in our imagination.

As well as writing novels and screenplays, Michael now works with his wife Jenny helping clients such as Unilever, Brandwatch, Cint and eBay develop their brands, people and businesses by harnessing the power of story.
